How much should I set aside for taxes this quarter?
For freelancers, gig workers and anyone paid on a 1099. Enter this payment period's numbers and the share you want to save. Everything is worked out in your browser. Nothing you type leaves this page.
Your numbers
If you use the standard mileage rate, you can't also deduct gas, repairs or other car costs. Leave those out of the expenses above.
The IRS rate went up on July 1, so June miles count at the lower rate.
You choose this number. Many people save somewhere between 20% and 30%; your tax professional can tell you what fits you.

Questions
Why are the payment periods uneven?
The IRS sets them that way: January to March, April and May, June to August, and September to December. Each payment covers the income of its period.
Why does it ask about June miles?
The IRS mileage rate for 2026 changed on July 1, and the June to August period straddles that date, so June miles count at the lower rate.
Is the amount it shows my tax?
No. It is your chosen percentage of the profit you enter, as a savings target. What you actually owe depends on your whole year; ask a tax professional.
Do you keep what I type?
No. The calculator runs only in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
Where the numbers come from
IRS business standard mileage rate for 2026: 72.5 cents a mile from January 1 to June 30, and 76 cents a mile from July 1 to December 31 (IRS IR-2025-128 and IR-2026-29). Estimated tax due dates: April 15, June 15 and September 15, 2026, and January 15, 2027; a date on a weekend or holiday moves to the next business day. Source: IRS.gov, checked October 9, 2026.
This is a savings calculator, not tax advice. It applies the percentage you choose to income minus the expenses and mileage you enter. It does not work out your tax. Ask a tax professional what applies to you.

Privacy
The calculator never sends anything: what you type stays in your browser. This site sets no cookies and runs no tracking. When you buy, Stripe collects your name, email and payment details to process the purchase; we receive your name and email, which we use only for your order: your receipt questions, refunds and, for the personal edition, the free 2027 edition in January. We never see your card.
